±«Óătv to host Clark in guest artist piano recital Sept. 30

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The ±«Óătv Division of Arts & Humanities will host guest artist Dr. Michael Clark, who will present a piano recital at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 30 in Meyer Recital Hall on the Bolivar campus.

Dr. Michael Clark, pianistThe program will consist of keyboard works by Baroque composers Handel and Bach, paired with Baroque-inspired 21st-century compositions.

The recital is free and open to the public, and guests are requested to wear masks.

Clark is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) and adjunct instructor in piano at Lone Star College-University Park in Texas. Devoted to practical solutions in pedagogy, he founded the website “Piano Tricks,” an ever-growing database of innovative piano fingerings generated by pianists and teachers from all over the world. Clark has performed and presented in 11 states, including conferences hosted by Harvard University, Music Teachers National Association, and the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy. 

His pedagogical writing is published in “Clavier Companion” and the “MTNA e-Journal.” Active in the musical community, Clark serves on the Executive Board of Texas Music Teachers Association, as president of Forum Music Teachers Association, and as chair of the Texas MTNA Competition. 

Clark earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance with the Certificate in Teaching and Learning from Rice University, and additional degrees from the University of Houston and Ithaca College. His teachers include Robert Roux, Nancy Weems, Jennifer Hayghe and Melinda Smashey Jones ’89.
